Show off your business on Small Business Saturday
December 2nd is Small Business Saturday – a day celebrating the variety, enthusiasm and impact of small businesses across the UK.
The day is preceded by a Small Business Saturday UK bus tour, which started in Dundee on October 23rd and will end in Brighton on November 24th. In between, the bus will criss-cross the UK, visiting locations including Lowestoft, Stoke-on-Trent, Caernarfon, Lancaster and Reading. At each stop, the bus hosts a range of workshops and activities designed to showcase small businesses of all kinds.
Supporting smaller businesses
Wise & Co works with lots of small businesses and we know that it’s both exciting and important to share what you do and how you do it. Whatever type of business you are, you can register with Small Business Saturday to run an event, take part in something that’s already organised, offer to talk to other small businesses, or work with people who are thinking of starting a business.
And it’s not just small businesses getting involved; companies and organisations that support business growth will also be taking part – such as business funders, marketing support consultants, the Institute of Directors and local Chambers of Commerce.
Events throughout the year
Although Small Business Saturday is the focal point for the campaign, the organisation behind it runs events all through the year to support and inspire business owners. These might be newly-started businesses, long-established small businesses or entrepreneurs who are just thinking about taking the first steps. These Inspire events are designed to give small business owners an insight into the things they could do in order to grow the business, find more customers or streamline their processes.
How can you take part?
You can support Small Business Saturday in a number of ways – use it just to promote your own business on the day: offer a discount or put a package together that uses the day as a hook to get people through the door. Run a social media campaign that helps to raise the profile not just of your business, but of other small local businesses that you know. Offer your services to a local organisation to speak about your experiences as a small business, or share the product or service you offer and demonstrate how it can make life easier for small business owners. Or be more creative! Whatever you do, it’s good to be involved.
